The Air Force wants to certify its entire fleet to use domestically produced synthetic fuel-blend by early 2011. The Air Force wants to have half of its aviation-fuel supply coming from alternative fuel sources by 2016. "This synthetic fuel initiative to certify the fuel for military aviation is being accomplished in close cooperation with our partners in the commercial aviation industry," said Bill Anderson, the Air Force's assistant secretary for installations, environment and logistics. "By working together, we can expand the market for synthetic jet fuel and make it more economical to produce by greatly increasing demand."
