Farrow, a good-will ambassador for the United Nations Children's Fund, has played a crucial role, starting a campaign last month to label the Games in Beijing the "Genocide Olympics" and calling on corporate sponsors and even Spielberg, who is an artistic adviser to China for the Games, to publicly exhort China to do something about Darfur. In a March 28 Op-Ed article in The Wall Street Journal, she warned Spielberg that he could "go down in history as the Leni Riefenstahl of the Beijing Games," a reference to a German filmmaker who made Nazi propaganda films.

Four days later, Spielberg sent a letter to President Hu Jintao of China, condemning the killings in Darfur and asking the Chinese government to use its influence in the region "to bring an end to the human suffering there," according to Spielberg's spokesman, Marvin Levy.

China soon dispatched Zhai to Darfur, a turnaround that served as a classic study of how a pressure campaign, aimed to strike Beijing in a vulnerable spot at a vulnerable time, could accomplish what years of diplomacy could not.

Nearly 500 attacks took place in the EU in 2006, most of them small incidents with limited damage. Scientists based at the Institute for Astronomy in Zurich used ice cores from Greenland to construct a picture of our star's activity in the past. They say that over the last century the number of sunspots rose at the same time that the Earth's climate became steadily warmer. This trend is being amplified by gases from fossil fuel burning, they argue.

During the war, it was revealed that Syria was not only serving as a transit point for Iranian weapons going to Hizballah, but was also providing Hizballah with its own top of the line cutting edge weapons—such as the Kornet anti-tank missile and 220 mm anti-personnel rockets—to the Lebanese terrorist organization. 1. För att ha ett ställe att samla mina infall och kommentarer på. Tidigare, när jag debatterat mycket på t ex Nubbs, eller för den delen Flashback, så får man acceptera att ens kommentarer hamnar utspridda i olika mappar och sedan i Nubbs fall, raderas. I en blogg har man allt kvar och samlat. En blogg  tillåter mig också att skriva om precis vad jag vill, när jag vill, vilket nog gör min blogg lite svår att kategorisera för de stackars besökarna. Nu har jag dock börjat blogga i en annan blogg också, Bloggregeringen, där bloggen har ett specifikt syfte.
   
   Jag trodde jag skulle blogga bara om politik på min blogg, men det har blivit lika mycket vetenskap och teknik. Det mest förvånande är väl paleoantropolgi. Tackar John Hawks blogg för det.
2. Som ett anteckningsblock där man kan söka upp saker: "Jag läste nåt om det.. Jo visst, jag gjorde ju en liten anteckning på min blogg." De bloggposter om börjar med"Länk" på min blogg är snabba bokmärken, som jag gör med hjälp av ett javascript.
   
   
3. Social: Mina kompisar får nu mindre mail från mig, och istället kan de följa bloggen (Hej!) :-) . Dessutom kan man nätverka med andra bloggare.
   
   
4. Det främsta skälet för mig var nog från början att själv använda publiceringssystemet Plone på daglig basis, och inte bara utveckla åt andra. Jag undervisar i Plone och även i informationsarkitektur och det känns skönt att ha ett ställe där man potentiellt kan prova lite nya idéer.
   
   
5. För att sprida memer i den svenska politiska debatten. Som bloggare tror jag man har förmåga att påverka genom att sprida tankesätt och idéer som senare poppar upp i den allmänna debatten. Om man prickar ett begrepp som är nytt, fruktbart och inte alltför långt ifrån den föreställningsvärld människor redan har i huvudet, vill säga.

We propose to generate H2 from a carbon-free primary energy source such as solar, nuclear, wind, etc. and then use it to supply the hydrogen atoms needed for the chemical transformation. While not necessary, a portion of this H2 could also be used to provide the energy needed for the transformation and, thus, further improve the carbon efficiency. A schematic of the proposed process is depicted in Fig. 1.

Terrorist involvement in criminal activity has two strategically significant aspects. First, it allows terrorists to gain financially while at the same time damaging the societies they target. Terrorists, always on the lookout for new ways to fund their violent activities, find important sources of revenue in criminal enterprises. Close scrutiny of jihadist terrorism since 9/11 demonstrates that these groups are often funded through the drug trade, money laundering schemes, and a variety of financial scams that range from the simple to the highly complex. Terrorists also use other illegal activities, such as document fraud and sham marriages, to facilitate their operational objectives.

All the citizens of Abu Gamal’s Ezba, regardless of their sects and levels, voted for the future. Millions of them turned up for a national referendum on amendments to the constitution in response to a call made by Al Haj Mohammed Hosni Abu Gamal. Uttrycket kommer från den brittiske sociologen Steven Lukes som 1974 introducerade teorin om maktens tre dimensioner – makten över beslutet, dagordningen och tanken. För att som samhällsvetare kunna tala om makt hade man tidigare varit tvungen att kunna presentera falsifierbara hypoteser rörande faktiskt utövad makt. Statsvetare som t.ex. Robert Dahl menade att man endast kunde tala om politisk maktutövning i form av faktiska politiska beslut. Eller, mer schematiskt uttryckt, makt är när A – genom exempelvis politiska beslut – lyckas få B att göra något som B annars inte skulle ha gjort. Detta kallar Lukes för maktens första dimension. I den andra dimensionen finns makt som utövas utan faktiska politiska beslut. Istället handlar det om makt att fatta icke-beslut, att utesluta vissa potentiella beslut från dagordningen. I både den första och andra maktdimensionen förutsätts att maktutövningen är medveten och att makt är något konkret som förutsätter en faktisk konflikt mellan motsatta intressen. Lukes tredje maktdimension, makten över tanken, handlar om makt att hindra latenta konflikter från att bli faktiska.
