Wikipedia är en fantastisk informationsresurs, men man bör faktiskt inte använda den som källa för beslut, utan gå vidare på de länkar som finns i artiklarna. Anledningen till det är ju att en artikel i Wikipedia kan vara helt felaktig i ögonblicket, på grund av någon knäpp redigering. Högsta domstolen i USA har inte åberopat Wikipedia, men ett steg under har detta skett.

A simple search of published court decisions shows that Wikipedia is frequently cited by judges around the country, involving serious issues and the bizarre — such as a 2005 tax case before the Tennessee Court of Appeals concerning the definition of “beverage” that involved hundreds of thousands of dollars, and, just this week, a case in Federal District Court in Florida that involved the term “booty music” as played during a wet T-shirt contest. More than 100 judicial rulings have relied on Wikipedia, beginning in 2004, including 13 from circuit courts of appeal, one step below the Supreme Court. (The Supreme Court thus far has never cited Wikipedia.)

Sitter och skriver på en bloggpost om betyg, men den blir inte klar eftersom jag vill få med så mycket. Och det är feltänkt. Syftet med en bloggpost, i alla fall en om samhälle och politik, är att bidra med något. <br><br>Det räcker alltså med att ha någon tänkvärd tanke, även en ofärdig sådan. Sedan kan nämligen andra bloggare låna och bygga vidare på eventuella insikter. Bloggosfären är inte bara ett kollektivt filter, det är också en kollektiv smedja för idéer, strategier och värderingar. Jag hoppas och tror att detta kommer att innebära att debatten höjs till en högre nivå, än den som har kunnat föras i pappersmedier.<br><br>Och när jag säger högre, så menar jag helt enkelt med bättre begrepp, som passar verkligheten bättre, och med därtill hörande goda resonemang.<br><br><br>

American pressure on European governments, as opposed to banks, has been less successful, administration and European officials say. The main targets are Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Austria, the Netherlands, Sweden and Britain, all with extensive business dealings with Iran, particularly in energy. Administration officials say, however, that Chancellor Angela Merkel of Germany, the current head of the European Union, has been responsive.

På Internet kan man sälja upptäckter av säkerhetsluckor till företag som behöver denna information för att skydda sina kunder. Det finns också kriminella som vill ha denna information. I en artikel I International Herald Tribune (och New York Times) står det om summor på runt 10 000 dollar för prenumerationer på exploits och för att sälja information om dem.

"To find a vulnerability, you have to do a lot of hard work," said Evgeny Legerov, founder of a small security firm, Gleg Ltd., in Moscow. "If you follow what they call responsible disclosure, in most cases all you receive is an ordinary thank you or sometimes nothing at all." Gleg sells vulnerability research to a dozen corporate customers around the world, with fees starting at $10,000 for periodic updates. Legerov says he regularly turns down the criminals who send e-mail messages offering big money for bugs they can use to spread malicious programs like spyware.

Last King of Scotland är en film om Idi Amins livläkare, fritt efter verkligheten. Jag ska försöka att inte avslöja så mycket mer konkret om vad som händer i filmen. Filmen berör en era, 70-talet, som behöver genomlysas, för att inte tala om en kontinent, Afrika, med samma behov. Filmen påminner en hel del om Steven Spielbergs München, samma tid, Israel är med (centralt i München, perifert i Last King of Scotland).

Och det finns också fler likheter. Båda filmerna är grymma, och båda filmerna saknar en andning. Det är liksom spänning hela tiden. Det gör att det inte finns tid för djup och reflektion inne i filmerna. Dock utfaller jämförelsen faktiskt till Last King of Scotlands fördel, därför att en tempoväxling sker i slutet. Det är dock en ytterligare spänningshöjning.

Våldet är egentligen inte starkare än i många andra filmer, men det griper i en hårdare.  Det kan bero på att regissören är dokumentärfilmare egentligen, och kanske skildrar våld på ett mer realistiskt sätt än de regissörer som verkar i en fiktiv tradition. Den kompis som var med mej var märkbart tagen och han fick ägna en del tid efter filmen till att lugna ner sig. Den grep också tag i mig men eftersom jag läst mer om Amin än vad han har gjort, drabbade inte filmen mig lika hårt. Paranoian runt Amin är skickligt skapad och skildrad.

Är då filmen sevärd? Ja det tycker jag, även om jag inte på något sätt är så lyrisk som många av recensenterna på imdb.

Det finns också en parallel till en annan film, nämligen Istvan Szabos Mefisto. Det finns starka likheter mellan rollgestaltningen av Idi Amin och den av Hermann Göring. Livläkaren och Hendrik Höfgen har också likheter i sin relation till dessa maktcentrum. Det är också samma äckliga vålds- och diktaturkultur som skildras i båda dessa filmer. Man får liksom en Per Ahlmark-spruta när man ser dem, en insikt om tyranniets väsen.

Skådespeleriet är av mycket hög klass, framför allt gestaltningen av Idi Amins fru Kay. Livläkaren också mycket bra, Idi Amin också bra. Alla roller är faktiskt bra spelade. Det finns bra insatser på alla möjliga roller.

Trådlöst ethernet för med sig en hel del problem.

Nu har kriminella kommit på att de kan använda trådlöst ethernet. Eller så har folk som kan trådlöst ethernet kommit på att de kan vara kriminella... Hursomhelst, de sätter upp en illegitim accesspunkt på en flygplats eller annat ställe där accesspunkter förväntas finnas, och har en skylt det står "gratis Wi-Fi" eller något i den stilen på. När sedan någon kopplar upp sig försöker de hacka datorn och/eller sniffa trafiken för att få tag i känslig information såsom kreditortsnummer och lösenord. Samtidigt ger de internetaccess så klart, så den hackade inte märker något.

En ännu listigare variant är att befinna sig vid en legitim accesspunkt på säg 40 mW och själv köra en på 200mW så att denna föredras av t ex Windows.

Intel’s advance was in part in finding a new insulator composed of an alloy of hafnium, a metallic element that has previously been used in filaments and electrodes and as a neutron absorber in nuclear power plants.
